This educational offering provides 0.25 CEU and was presented in the Clinical track. The course includes a PowerPoint (in PDF) and an MP3 audio file from the presentation originally shared at the 14th National Doctors of Nursing Practice Conference at the Swissotel in Chicago, August 2021.

Allison Kuhn, DNP, APR
Dr. Kuhn is an Integrative Medicine/Whole Health Nurse Practitioner working for the Veterans Affairs Saint Louis Healthcare System.
Her current work focuses on the healthcare system’s cultural transformation through clinical innovation and programming aimed at Veterans’ health and well-being. She has developed various innovative programming for Veterans, including telehealth programming, successfully converting in-person groups to virtual offerings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her particular passion and interest focus on Women’s Veteran-centric care. She continues to develop innovative interventions and programming, spreading her expertise to National Veterans and non-Veteran platforms.

The purpose of this presentation will provide an overview of a Quality Improvement Project that aimed to enhance psychosocial health and well-being for female Veterans. Participants attended a virtual 4-week wellness group entitled ‘Love Yourself, Invest in Yourself, Vitalize Yourself, & Empower Yourself’ (LIVE). Using mindfulness and group social interaction in a virtual format provides evidence of a strategy that can be used with diverse populations, which adds to the resources available for DNP-prepared nurses to use in their practice.
This became especially important during the past year during the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting social distancing.
